Chelsea are reportedly considering Brentford striker Ivan Toney as a transfer target late into the summer window.
According to The Mirror, Chelsea are among the clubs lining up a swoop for the in-form Premier League star.
is understood the Blues, along with Everton and Manchester United, have Brentford’s 26-year-old attacker in their sights.
The report claims the Bees are preparing themselves for bids in the final couple of weeks of the transfer window.
For Chelsea, the Brentford centre-forward is viewed as an alternative target to Barcelona player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Aubameyang, 33, could reportedly double his salary if he ends up at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea considering Ivan Toney
Toney, who could reportedly cost as much as £50million to sign, has started the new season on fire.
“I was told if Brentford are going to sell Ivan Toney, he’s going to be £50million,” journalist Dean Jones told The Football Terrace last month.
Toney has kickstarted the Premier League campaign with two goals and two assists in the opening three games.
The Englishman frontman has so many brilliant attributes, including being dominant in the air and a penalty specialist. In addition, he’s got an immense work rate, decent speed, and is proving himself consistently now in the top division.
Chelsea fans would love to hear that he was even compared to Blues great Didier Drogba last year by Brentford teammate Christian Norgaard.
“I heard someone in the changing room comparing Ivan with Didier Drogba. I think he looked a bit like him actually – the way he kept the ball, his first touch and his passes. He won every single header and he is a right player,” Norgaard said.

Toney’s lack of experience at a major club is the biggest red flag when looking at him as a Chelsea signing, but at some point the Blues will need to try something different in their quest to find their next big striker.
The Brentford star is showing at his current side what a handful he is for Premier League defenders.
For £50million, it would be a sizeable gamble.
