Done Deal: Another Versatile Player Successfully Signs new Deal for Club

South American football expert Tim Vickery discusses what Antony could bring to Old Trafford amid interest in the Ajax player.

Manchester United are still scrambling to get transfers over the line before the window closes on September 1.

Manager Erik ten Hag wants more signings to improve his first team squad after a mixed start to the 2022/23 season.

Dismal back-to-back defeats were followed by a 2-1 win over Liverpool on Monday, with glimmers of what could be to come.

Ten Hag had to make tough decisions that included dropping Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo, but it worked.

United have got some of the boss’ targets already in centre-back Lisandro Martinez from his old club Ajax.

Christian Eriksen signed on a free transfer and this week Casemiro was unveiled after joining from Real Madrid.

Tyrell Malacia also looks like a solid signing after performing well against Mohamed Salah and Liverpool.

If Ten Hag does manage to land some of his remaining targets, then his spending is likely to climb over £200m.

Here looks at some of the transfers that United could still get over the line before Thursday.

The Ajax winger has been a top target of Ten Hag all summer and their pursuit could go right down to the wire.

The Red Devils will likely be forced to pay over the odds for the 22-year-old if they want to land him, given time is running out to get it done.

The Sun report that United are on the brink of signing the winger after agreeing an £84m fee with Ajax.

This will include a £74m initial fee with a further £10m in add ons. It would be the club’s second most expensive transfer in history, after Paul Pogba.

He is believed to have already agreed personal terms with United.

are keen to bring in another goalkeeper to provide back-up for no.1 David de Gea.

Talks are ongoing with Newcastle over a possible loan move for Dubravka.

talkSPORT’s Alex Crook reports: “United are in talks with Newcastle over a move for Martin Dubravka. They are looking for competition for David de Gea.”

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kevin Trapp had been a target, but he has come out and said that he rejected the chance to move to Old Trafford.
