‘Top of Arsenal’s lists’: Fabrizio Romano says there’s a ‘huge opportunity’ player will join Gunners

Speaking in an interview with WettFreunde, Fabrizio Romano has, once again, been discussing Arsenal’s interest in Youri Tielemans.

It’s been almost nine months since it was reported that Arsenal held talks with Tielemans’ agents at London Colney, but, here we are with just three days left of the transfer window and Arsenal are yet to make their move for the Belgian.

However, Romano is still banging this drum, stating that Tielemans is right at the top of Arsenal’s transfer wishlist, claiming that there’s a huge opportunity for this deal to happen.

Romano spoke about Tielemans’ situation.

“Let’s wait and see what Leicester will do. After selling Wesley Fofana to Chelsea, they made a big profit. So they have to decide what to do with the Youri Tielemans price tag.”

“At the moment there are no direct negotiations with an official offer.

“But I can confirm the player has always been at the top of Arsenal’s list and therefore I would definitely keep him on Arsenal’s list of potential players because there is a huge opportunity.”

We don’t doubt one bit that Arsenal have a strong interest in Tielemans – to say this one is widely reported is an understatement, but at this point we have to question whether or not Leicester City would sell him.

The Foxes have gotten off to a rotten start this season, and while alarm bells won’t be ringing at the King Power Stadium quite yet, they won’t want to make their squad any weaker at this point.

With Wesley Fofana seemingly set to join Chelsea for massive money, cashflow shouldn’t be too much of an issue for Leicester, meaning there’ll be less pressure on the East Midlanders to make this sale.

Yes, Tielemans is heading into the final year of his deal, so this is City’s last chance to cash-in, but given their poor start to this season, selling at this point could backfire in the worst way imaginable.
