Manchester United can use derby blueprint to tackle Arsenal forward amid goal drought

Gabriel Jesus has looked a striker reborn in the embryonic stages of this season’s Premier League.

Since swapping Manchester City for Arsenal, Jesus looks to have enjoyed being the main man rather than merely a back-up option and a return of three goals and three assists in just five games backs that theory up.

Add in the fact Arsenal have won all five of those matches and it has been a more-than-impressive start to life at the Emirates for the 25-year-old. On Sunday he returns to Manchester for the first time since his summer £45million switch to Mikel Arteta’s side.

He and his Gunners’ teammates will be attempting to quell the feelgood factor that has emerged at Old Trafford following a sticky start to life under Erik ten Hag

Despite some Manchester United fans being wary of Jesus’ impressive early season numbers there is one statistic that will give them a big fillip ahead of the tantalising clash – Jesus’ record when it comes to facing United.

In a total of 11 Manchester derby clashes that he featured in during his five-year stay at the Etihad, the Brazilian failed to find the back of the net.

It is an extraordinary record given the fact that he scored almost a century of goals for City between 2017 and last May.
