Transfer rumors: Cristiano Ronaldo agree to join international club agreement place

Amid transfer rumors, on Thursday reports in Turkey indicated that Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo had agreed in principle to join Fenerbahce.

Ajansspor reported that only the final details were required before the move could become official. It was to happen after the Portuguese international reached an agreement with Fenerbahce President Ali Koc.

Koc had also bought global star Mesut Ozil, who had previously played along with Ronaldo in Real Madrid. Koc has been reportedly trying for days to make the Portuguese star wear the yellow-dark blue jersey.

It was reported that 37-year-old met with manager Jorge Jesus, who was able to persuade his compatriot to make the switch to the Super Lig. The transfer window is now closed across Europe’s top leagues, but the Yellow Canaries were optimistic of landing the Man Utd striker ahead of other suitors.

In Turkey, the transfer market remains open until Thursday. It gives Fenerbahce until then to reach an agreement over a fee with Man Utd. The club won its last three Premier League games in which boss Erik ten Hag named Ronaldo among the substitutes.

Ronaldo had signed a contract with the club for a total of 23 million Euros ($2,28,04,385). It was within the framework of a three-year contract with an option of one year, 8 million of which is dependent on his performance.

According to ESPN, Fenerbahce also signed Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi. His deal collapsed with Nottingham Forest late in the transfer window.

But according to recent reports, Ronaldo ended up staying with Man Utd even though he came within touching distance of joining Fenerbahce, reported Caughtoffside

Despite the move to Fenerbahce failing to materialize, it really does go to show just how desperate Ronaldo is to leave Old Trafford.

But 12 months still remain on his contract, and Ronaldo, who has so far played a part substitute’s role for Ten Hag, looks destined to see out the remainder of his deal before finally moving on.

The move could happen either in January 2023 or next summer. The summer transfer window shut on Thursday night.
