Report: Big announcement today about Italian midfielder Arsenal wanted to sign

Ac Milan midfielder was linked with a move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the summer transfer window, but the Gunners did not – or could not – sign the AC Milan midfielder.

On August 5, 2022, Journalist Enrico Camelio told, as translated by TheBootRoom, that Arsenal and Milan ‘met and talked about Tonali’.

The defending Serie A champions were reportedly willing to sell the 22-year-old midfielder for €55 million (£47.72 million).

No move happened.

And now well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Tonali is about to sign a new contract with his club AC Milan.

The Italian journalist has claimed that Milan ‘have reached full agreement’ with the 22-year-old over a new deal, and that the contract will be officially signed later today.

Now, this turn of events should not dissuade Arsenal from making a move for Tonali again.

The Italy international midfielder may sign a new deal until June 2027, but if Arsenal make a bid for him next summer, then they could be able to sign him.

After all, a huge offer from the Gunners could be very tempting for Milan.

Tonali has made three starts and one substitute appearance in Serie A for Milan so far this season.

The 22-year-old gave one assist in those games.

The Italian youngster has also played once in the UEFA Champions League for the Rossoneri this campaign.
