Arsenal have reportedly begun talks over a January move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Jesper Lindstrom.
The Gunners enjoyed a fruitful summer transfer window for the most part.
However, Arsenal failed to make any late signings ahead of the deadline.
Mikel Arteta and Edu were in the market for a midfielder in wake of Mohamed Elneny’s injury.
Arsenal tried to land Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, but couldn’t get a deal over the line.
Now, according to BILD, the Gunners are looking to Lindstrom.
Arsenal have apparently made contact with the Denmark international’s representatives.
The 2022 Europa League winner reportedly fits the profile of player that Arteta is targeting.
BILD has also claimed that £17million would be enough for the Gunners to land Lindstrom.
Arsenal target Lindstrom – factfile
Lindstrom impressed in his maiden Bundesliga season following his move from Brondby in 2021.
Indeed, he was named the Bundesliga Rookie of the Year last season.
Lindstrom made 39 appearances in all competitions for Eintracht last term, registering five goals and nine assists.
This term, the 22-year-old has made 10 competitive club appearances, scoring three times.
Lindstrom is versatile, able to play on either wing as well as through the middle.
Last year, scouting website Breaking the Lines wrote: ‘Lindstrom follows a relatively well-trodden path of the progressive type who can deputise out wide, in the centre or further forward, think Dusan Tadic or Jack Grealish.’
And the official Bundesliga website has compared the Dane to Julian Draxler.
Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp previously suggested that Lindstrom is an ‘outstanding‘ talent after working with the youngster.
