Arsenal are still keen on signing Juventus star, Dusan Vlahovic, according to surprising reports coming from Italy this weekend.
Calciomercato claims that Arsenal are keen on signing Vlahovic if they can, despite missing out on him in the last January window when it seemed all but certain he’d sign for the Gunners. That pursuit showed just how much Mikel Arteta likes the Serbian striker, and it seems he’s very much kept tabs on the forward since.
It’s claimed that Arsenal remain keen on Vlahovic despite the addition of Gabriel Jesus this summer. There are mentions of Vlahovic not being 100% happy in Turin, despite starting the season in good goalscoring form.
Vlahovic signed for Juventus for around £66m as he decided to leave Fiorentina for the Italian giants ahead of the Gunners. At the time, it was a bitter blow for Arsenal, Edu, and Arteta, who had spent a huge amount of time trying to prize him away from Florence.
Of course, it remains to be seen whether Juve would be open at all to a sale. Less than a year after splashing out such a big sum, it would be a bold statement from the Turin side if they decided to sell. The striker has been compared to Erling Haaland, who has been making waves in the Premier League this season.
Our View: Vlahovic Ship Has Sailed At Arsenal
This is a strange old rumour this one. Vlahovic might have been the main man for Arsenal around 9 months ago but now, it’s hard to see where he fits in.
Gabriel Jesus is the main man in the striker’s position and it would mean a big outlay and a shift in formation and tactics to accommodate Vlahovic right now.
For Arsenal fans, though, this is an interesting take. Vlahovic was someone who at one point looked certain to be a Gunner, so the fact it seems Edu is still keeping eyes peeled on him, shows their interest hasn’t quite died off.
