“I want to go”: £15m Arsenal target makes big confession

As a result of his excellent performances for Brighton, Arsenal are said to be interested in signing Leandro Trossard.

The Belgium international has been in superb form for the Seagulls this season, scoring two goals while also providing two assists in six Premier League appearances.

Now, Trossard – who Brighton paid £15m for in 2019 – has made a big confession.

Speaking to Het Niuewsblad while on international duty with Belgium, the 27-year-old revealed that he would “want to go” if the opportunity to leave Brighton for a bigger side came about.

Trossard said: “I have evolved tremendously. I now know how the Premier League works. I’ve grown tremendously in that. Confidence, mentally, physically. I have become better. Our coach did leave for Chelsea now but speculations about me following him make no sense.

“If the opportunity arises, I want to go, but I want to play and not sit on the bench.”

Now, that is quite the revelation from the Brighton No.11 – we wonder how Roberto De Zerbi, who has only just replaced Graham Potter, will view those comments.

Of course, it is hardly like Trossard has handed in a transfer request, although his honest comments will surely annoy Brighton fans so soon after Potter jumped ship for a Champions League side.

After these revealing comments, Mikel Arteta and Edu – Director of Football at the Emirates Stadium – must make a January move for Trossard.

Arsenal have a good chance of signing the Belgian, as his contract expires in July 2023.

Therefore – if he doesn’t sign a new deal – the Gunners would be giving Brighton their last chance to recoup some money for Trossard, or else they risk losing him for nothing in the summer. A cut-price deal could be on.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Trossard’s interview has certainly added fuel to the fire.
