Antonio Conte has, once again, praised Mikel Arteta and claimed that the Arsenal boss could go on and have a great managerial career – in comments reported by Football London.
The disruption to the football calendar has only helped build the hype ahead of the first North London derby of the season.
Arsenal host Tottenham at the Emirates. The game pits the Premier League leaders against one of the only two remaining unbeaten sides in the division.
Of course, the game would be huge wherever the two sides were in the table. But both teams are now being talked about as potential title contenders following their start to the season.
Mikel Arteta praised by Antonio Conte
Conte leading Tottenham into that position is no surprise. But Arteta is certainly silencing any remaining doubters with how Arsenal are playing.
Arteta’s stock has been on the rise since virtually the start of last season. And Conte has suggested that the Spaniard has the ability to reach the very top.
“I know the quality of this team,” he said, as reported by Football London. “I know they are working with Arteta for many years. They are really well organised and Arteta I said last season he is a really good coach.
“He is young but he can have in front of him a great career. We know that Arsenal are one of the six teams that try to take the best position in the Premier League.”
Arsenal with opportunity to gain some revenge
It is going to be such a fascinating contest this weekend. Conte has so much experience in the bigger games. And he came out on top when the two sides met late last season.
But Arteta’s Arsenal squad clearly have huge belief in what the boss wants from them. And, as Conte suggested, they have added real quality in the summer.
Both sides know that this weekend is a huge opportunity to send a real statement to the rest of the division.
The disappointment surrounding Arsenal’s end to the campaign last year was compounded by the fact that it was Tottenham who pipped them to fourth spot.
So it could be a massive moment in the Gunners’ season if they are able to wrestle back the bragging rights.
