Garth Crooks has praised Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka on BBC Sport and has said that he was impressed by the Gunners star during the win against Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium in the North London derby.
Arsenal got the better of Tottenham 3-1 at home in the Premier League this weekend.
Xhaka was among the goalscorers.
The £30 million (SkySports) Switzerland international midfielder had a brilliant game in the middle of the park and was a force to be reckoned with.
Former Tottenham forward Crooks has included Xhaka in his BBC Premier League Team of the Weekend.
The BBC pundit has said that he was “condemning” the midfielder for his lack of discipline not so long ago, but he was really impressed by his performance in the North London derby.
PRAISE FOR GRANIT XHAKA FOR ARSENAL DISPLAY V TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
Crooks wrote: “It’s not that long ago I was condemning Granit Xhaka for his lack of discipline, especially in the big games for Arsenal. Now I find myself congratulating him for his conduct and professionalism.
“I was particularly taken by the way he corralled his team-mates after Arsenal’s first goal against their north London rivals, in an attempt to retain an element of composure in the red-hot atmosphere.”
In our view, Granit Xhaka was superb for Arsenal in the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium this weekend.
The midfielder was a leader for the Gunners, and after Thomas Partey’s goal, he got his players in a hurdle and tried to make sure that they stay focused.
Xhaka has had bad moments in an Arsenal shirt over the years, but he is doing well at the moment and is one of the first names on the teamsheet.
